7-Year-Old Sacto Girl Survives Bullet In Her Head

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

SACRAMENTO (CBS) ― A little girl took a stray bullet in the head while playing in a Sacramento park Tuesday, but doctors expect her to make a full recovery.

Yamile Leon, 7, was at the Nuevo Park in north Sacramento Tuesday evening, watching her uncle play soccer, when a .22-caliber bullet struck her in the head. It felt "like a BB gun," Yamile said.

Her older brother, Juan, was with her when the shooting took place. "I thought she was going to die," he said.

Police do not know who fired the bullet that struck Yamile, but will prosecute anyone responsible on felony charges.

Doctors expect Yamile to make a full recovery after they remove the bullet from her head.
