North Bay: 488-Acre Geysers Fire Contained

GEYSERVILLE (BCN) ― A wildfire that burned 488 acres in the North Bay this week has been contained, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said Saturday morning.

The Geysers Fire, which was contained at 8 p.m. Friday, started in steep terrain around 4 a.m. Thursday near Geyserville.

The fire started 4 miles up Geysers Road near the Hawkeye Ranch, and consisted of two fires that grew into each other. Fire investigators are still searching Saturday for the cause of the flames.

Another blaze, the Tar Fire, near St. Helena and Tarwater roads, burned 83 acres near the border of Napa and Sonoma counties. The blaze began around 9 a.m. Thursday after downed power lines sparked grasses and other vegetation, according to Cal Fire.

Minimal crews are at both fire sites this morning searching for hot spots.
