Gas Leak Shuts Street In SF SoMa District
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ―
Pacific Gas and Electric Co. crews were working late Tuesday morning to repair an underground pipe in San Francisco's South of Market district where a gas leak occurred, a PG&E spokesman said.
Final repairs to the pipe at the intersection of Fremont and Folsom streets are expected this afternoon, according to spokesman Joe Molica.
Fremont Street between Folsom and Harrison streets remained shut down Tuesday morning as a precaution, Molica said.
The leak was reported just after 6:30 a.m. by people in the area who smelled natural gas, Molica said.
Also as a precaution, gas service was shut down to 15 customers and a two-story building in the area was briefly evacuated, Molica said.
No injuries were reported.
