Bay Area Drivers Wait For Fuel Efficient Options

SAN JOSE (CBS 5) ― The high cost of fuel in the Bay Area, along with a slumping economy has most everyone trying to figure out ways to ditch gas guzzlers and become more fuel efficient. But some of those options are now coming with a very long wait.

At the Smart Car dealership in San Jose, customers are waiting 18 months for the gas sipping cars. As of Wednesday, 280 people were on the waiting list.

Meanwhile would-be motorcyclists also have to wait. Safety and training classes are full, as more people look at using motorcycles and scooters to commute.
