A 9-month-old Fremont boy was recovering Wednesday after surgery from being mauled by the family dog, and the infant's family members may face charges of child endangerment.
The same animal apparently bit someone else in the home two weeks earlier.
Fremont police said the boxer, named Tyson, attacked the child in the living room of the family's home in the 3600 block of Monmouth Place on Tuesday afternoon and bit him on the face and neck.
The baby underwent surgery at Children's Hospital Oakland for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The boxer is now under quarantine by Fremont animal control, and authorities said Wednesday they were considering child-endangerment charges against the adults in the home.
On May 11, the same dog was quarantined after injuring an adult in the home. Family members have admitted to authorities that they downplayed the earlier biting incident so they could keep the dog.
