SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ― A man was injured in San Francisco early Saturday morning when a firework went off inside the car he was in, police said.

The man lit the firework inside the vehicle around 1 a.m. near Mission and Trumbull streets, Officer Mike Baglin said.

The firework fell to the floor of the vehicle and when the man picked it up, it exploded, Baglin said.

Baglin did not know the extent of the man's injuries but said he was taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.
