A
Wind Advisory and a Red Flag Warning - indicating extreme fire weather conditions - were in effect until Saturday for much of the Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service.
The
Wind Advisory for the entire San Francisco Bay region was in place until 5 a.m. Saturday, with winds expecting to reach speeds of 35-39 mph and gusts possibly reaching 45-57 mph, according to the weather service.
The Red Flag Warning was set in place due to the strong winds and low relative humidity, which increases the risk of fire. That warning was expected to remain in place until 6 p.m. Saturday, the weather service said.
The warning affects San Francisco, the North Bay, the coastal peninsula, the East Bay, the Santa Cruz Mountains, the Santa Clara Valley and Monterey County.
