Red Flag Fire Warning For North Bay Mountains

North Bay Weather Conditions And Alerts

MARIN COUNTY (CBS 5 / KCBS) ― The National Weather Service has issued a red flag fire warning for the North Bay effective Tuesday evening through Thursday night.

Hot temperatures, low humidity and offshore winds will increase the fire danger for the hills of Napa and Sonoma counties and Mount Tamalpais, forecasters said.

Local fire departments and Cal Fire are on high alert, bracing for another round of costly brushfires. The fire season is not even close to being over, said Cal Fire Batallion Chief Paul Van Gerwin.

Fire season began early in California this year when lightning sparked thousands of blazes across the state earlier this year. The National Forest Service has so far spent $1.6 billion putting out wildfires.
