Man Struck, Killed By Caltrain In Mountain View
MOUNTAIN VIEW (BCN) ―
A person who reportedly jumped from behind some bushes onto train tracks was fatally struck by a Caltrain commuter train just north of the Caltrain station in Mountain View Friday, a company spokeswoman said.
Northbound train No. 263 struck the victim around 4:20 p.m. after the victim leapt onto the tracks north of the station's platform, according to spokeswoman Christine Dunn.
Caltrain trains were subsequently forced to single-track at 10 mph around the incident while emergency personnel responded, causing delays up to two hours.
The northbound track affected by the incident reopened at 9:10 p.m., Dunn said.
The victim's identity has not been released, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
