2 Die In Head-On Collision On Hwy. 1 In San Mateo
CASCADE RANCH STATE PARK (BCN) ―
Two people died at the scene of a head-on collision in unincorporated San Mateo County near Cascade Ranch State Park Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The five-vehicle crash was reported at 4:27 p.m. on state Highway 1 at New Years Creek Road, CHP Officer A. Paulson said.
Two of the five vehicles involved collided head-on, and at least one vehicle overturned, according to Paulson.
Initial reports stated one person died at the scene of the crash, but while an emergency helicopter was en route a second person died, CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.
All lanes of northbound and southbound Highway 1 in the area are blocked due to the crash and a Sig-alert was issued at 4:54 p.m.
