Pittsburg Couple Who Perished While Crabbing ID'd

BODEGA (CBS 5 / AP) ― The Sonoma County coroner has identified an elderly couple whose bodies were recovered near Bodega Bay after they failed to return from a Thanksgiving Day crabbing trip.

The coroner's office said Saturday that autopsies still are pending for the couple, who were identified as Nikolaos and Eudora Afkentakis, of Pittsburg.

U.S. Coast Guard officials think the 20-foot motorized boat in which the 83-year-old husband and 78-year-old wife had gone out to place crab pots capsized in the heavy surf. Neither of the victims was wearing a life vest.

Friends reported the pair missing after they failed to return as scheduled on Thursday morning. Their bodies were found later in the day.
