Fairfield Man Arrested For DUI, Child Endangerment

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

FAIRFIELD (BCN) ― A Fairfield man was arrested for child endangerment on Tuesday after he allegedly caused a multi-vehicle collision while driving under the influence with a child in his truck.

Officers responded to a report of a multi-vehicle collision witnessed by a fire department engine crew on Travis Boulevard near Union Avenue at around 2:45 p.m., according to Fairfield police. Four vehicles were involved in a collision that hospitalized several people with injuries, none of which were expected to be life threatening.

Witnesses told police that the driver of a red Ford Ranger pickup had lost control of the truck while speeding west on Travis Boulevard and collided with three other vehicles.

Officers reported that a small child was in the truck at the time of the collision. The child had been fastened in a child safety seat and was not injured.

The truck driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to police, who took him to a hospital to be treated for injuries and then arrested him for felony driving under the influence and child endangerment.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Fairfield police traffic unit at (707) 428-7524.
