Redwood City Woman In Tonga Royal Crash Still Free
REDWOOD CITY (AP) ―
Prosecutors say the Redwood City woman convicted of causing a freeway crash that killed two members of Tonga's royal family may remain out of jail for at least another year.
Edith Delgado appeared briefly in court Thursday while attorneys discussed her appeal.
Delgado was sentenced to two years after being found guilty of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in connection with the July 2006 deaths of a Tongan royal couple and their driver.
She's free on $100,000 bail while attorneys appeal her sentence.
Deputy District Attorney Aaron Fitzgerald says with the appeal, Delgado could remain out of jail until at least the end of 2008.
