Propeller Kills CoCo Woman In Boating Accident

DISCOVERY BAY (BCN) ― A woman who died Saturday in a boating accident in Discovery Bay was killed by a boat propeller, Contra Costa County Sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said Monday.

An autopsy was conducted this morning on the body of 47-year-old Jill Hullen, a Discovery Bay resident, according to Lee.

Hullen's 14-year-old son, who was also involved in the accident, remained in serious but stable condition today at Children's Hospital Oakland, Lee said.

Hullen and her son had been on a WaveRunner watercraft at about 4 p.m. when they collided with a water ski boat in Indian Slough at the entrance to Discovery Bay in unincorporated Contra Costa County, Lee said.

The boy was rescued from the water and flown by helicopter to Children's Hospital.

A diver found Hullen's body about two and a half hours later.

The sheriff's office was continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. So far, they have determined that alcohol did not appear to be a factor, Lee said.
