Oakland Cracking Down On Abuse Of Parking Placards

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ― For nearly two decades we've been covering the abuse of parking placards for the disabled in the Bay Area, but at least one local city appears to be aggressively cracking down.

Oakland police officers are challenging drivers who use the placards for free parking. It's an elaborate sting operation, focused primarily on the downtown area.

In his video report, Robert Lyles shows us that the program won't stop until police see a dramatic decrease in abuse of the system.
