Officials at the University of California, Davis have agreed not pursue disciplinary action against 47 students arrested in protests over fee hikes and budget cuts.
UC Davis administrators made the agreement after about 150 students packed the main administration building for several hours Tuesday night, demanding amnesty for those arrested last week.
University officials also agreed to ask the district attorney's office not to prosecute the protesters and review the arrest of a female student who allegedly assaulted a police officer.
At UC Santa Cruz, officials reopened a classroom building Tuesday that was occupied by student protesters for three days.
Officials there say early damage estimates top $50,000, and so far no punitive action has been taken against the demonstrators.
