Santa Clara County will pay $800,000 to the father of a bicyclist who was killed when a deputy fell asleep while driving his patrol car.
County officials announced the settlement payment Thursday to Ripp Gough, father of Kristy Gough.
Thirty-year-old Kristy Gough was killed when the patrol car hit her and two other cyclists in Cupertino in March 2008.
The settlement with Gough's father comes after a $1.2 million settlement with her mother, Karen Clarkson.
Also killed in the incident was 29-year-old Matt Peterson. The county settled with his parents for $2.3 million.
Another suit filed by a third cyclist who was injured is pending.
The deputy driving the patrol car was sentenced to four months in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
