Crescent City Lady May Be Witness To Forest Murder
CRESCENT CITY (CBS 5 / AP) ―
Authorities have been searching land near Redwood National and State Parks for any sign of criminal activity after a woman claimed she saw a man kill someone in the woods about four years ago.
The Del Norte County Sheriff's office said no human remains have been found but the investigation is continuing.
A cadaver dog was brought out twice this week to search for clues in the area known as Earth People's Park, known to be a home for transients.
Investigators found abandoned tents, empty sleeping bags, two leashed dogs and a marijuana garden.
The woman who sparked the search made her claim while talking to prosecutors. She had gone to authorities to report she was assaulted. She said she saw her attacker kill a man years earlier in the park.
