Driver In San Jose 3-Car Crash Flees On Foot
SAN JOSE (BCN) ―
California Highway Patrol officers Saturday are searching for a man who fled the scene of a three-vehicle crash on Interstate Highway 280 by walking down an offramp and onto San Jose city streets, CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.
A blue Toyota Prius, a teal pickup truck and a Volkswagon Jetta were involved in a collision on northbound Highway 280 near Saratoga Avenue around 1:30 p.m., according to Caggiano.
One of the vehicles spun out and hit the center divide, and the three vehicles were left blocking the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes of the highway while the CHP responded to investigate, Caggiano said.
A driver of one of the vehicles reported minor complaints of pain and was transported to a nearby hospital.
The lanes were cleared about an hour later, but the CHP this afternoon has continued to search for a man driving one of the vehicles who apparently left the scene of the crash by fleeing on foot.
Caggiano said the man walked down the Saratoga Avenue offramp and has not been seen since.
He is described as a Hispanic man standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall and wearing white and blue workout suit with a red collar, Caggiano said.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the CHP at (408) 467-5400.
