A 27-year-old San Lorenzo man has been charged with murder after killing a motorist while trying to evade police in Oakland.
Steven Reed was charged with murder and evading police after authorities said he ran a stop sign and slammed into another car Wednesday evening.
The crash killed 25-year-old Marquita Bosley and injured her 19-month-old son, Naiere Burgess. The boy remained hospitalized Saturday.
Reed, a floor installer, was being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. He is scheduled to appear Monday in Alameda County Superior Court in Oakland.
Court records show he has a 2006 conviction for being an accessory in an assault case and was sentenced to two years in prison in a drug case in 2001.
