Contra Costa Water District Worker Found Dead
(BCN)
A Contra Costa Water District employee was found dead near the Los Vaqueros Reservoir in an unincorporated part of the county Sunday night shortly after he was reported missing, according to the sheriff's office.
Sheriff's Sgt. Robert Roberts said authorities are investigating the cause of death, however foul play is not suspected.
At about 6:30 p.m., the man, who was working at Los Vaqueros Reservoir, was reported missing by co-workers after he did not radio in for several hours, according to Roberts.
A sheriff's ranger found the man next to a vehicle in the foothills of the reservoir shortly after he was reported missing, Roberts said.
Officials with the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol, as well as emergency and medical crews responded to the area and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Roberts said that although the man was found next to a vehicle, it does not appear as though he was involved in a crash. The Contra Costa coroner's office will investigate the cause of death, Roberts said.
