CONCORD (BCN) ―
A man was shot in the leg in Concord early Monday morning after he allegedly attempted to intervene in a domestic dispute, police said.
Daniel DeLeon III, the alleged shooter, was having a verbal argument with a woman on Saint Philip Court off of Willow Pass Road, Concord police Lt. Jim Lardieri said.
The victim, a 48-year-old man, overheard the argument and attempted to intervene, Lardieri said.
DeLeon, 23, of Bay Point, allegedly walked away for a moment and returned with a handgun. He allegedly shot the victim once in the leg and fled.
Police received a call reporting the shooting at 2:40 a.m.
Responding officers found the victim in the street. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
Officers searched the area and found DeLeon hiding in some bushes nearby. He was booked into county jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
