SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ―
The Blue Bottle Café at Mint Plaza in Downtown houses the most expensive coffeemaker on the planet. A machine that caffeine aficionados say that could make us think of fine coffees in the same way we think of fine wines.
The $20,000 siphon bar is the only halogen-powered model in the U.S. James Freeman of the Blue Bottle said the machine gives him better control of temperature and other parts of the brewing process to create a coffee experience.
Coffee drinkers are paying $9-$11 for an 18 ounce pot, which is brewed in less than four minutes.
