Alameda County sheriff's deputies were still looking for a 17-year-old boy Tuesday evening who allegedly fired a gun in his Castro Valley neighborhood, a sheriff's sergeant said.
The sheriff's office responded about 11:10 a.m. to reports that the teen had fired three to five shots at his neighbors in the area of Byron and Kelly streets, sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.
No one was hit by the gunfire and Nelson said he does not know a motive for the shooting.
Members from the sheriff's office special response team then surrounded the teen's home, believing him to be inside, and tried unsuccessfully to contact him on the phone, according to Nelson.
Shortly after 4 p.m. the deputies entered the home but did not find anyone inside, Nelson said.
The special response team was continuing to look for the teen Tuesday evening.
"We're using other methods to try to track him down," Nelson said.
