The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two people who were sitting on top of their capsized sailboat and another who was briefly trapped underneath it in the water near the Golden Gate Bridge Thursday afternoon, a petty officer said.
Around 3:45 p.m., someone on a tanker called the Coast Guard and reported the capsized trimaran, Coast Guard Petty Officer Richard Morgan said.
The Coast Guard quickly arrived and got close enough to the people to pull them aboard the agency's rescue vessel. The man who had been trapped underneath the boat was able to free himself and also climbed aboard, Morgan said.
None of the boaters was injured, he said.
