SAN RAFAEL (CBS 5 / BCN) ― A 3-alarm vegetation fire at China Camp State Park in Marin County was contained Thursday evening, fire officials said.

The blaze was first reported at 5:20 p.m. in the area of 600 N. San Pedro Road.

Marin County fire Battalion Chief Mike Giannini said the fire burned for about an hour and charred as many as nine acres before firefighters contained it about 6:30 p.m.

Crews from Cal Fire and the San Rafael, Ross Valley, Ross and Novato fire departments helped fight the blaze, Giannini said.

The effort included the use of two air tankers and one helicopter. No injuries were reported and no structures burned, he said.

Some firefighters were staying put into the night to make sure the fire didn't flare up again, Giannini said.

"We're going to keep crews out there all night," he said.
