Woman Hit By AC Transit Bus In North Richmond

RICHMOND (BCN) ― An Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District bus struck a woman in North Richmond Friday morning as she was loading her bicycle onto the rack on the front of the bus, California Highway Patrol Officer Sam Morgan said.

The CHP received a call reporting the incident about 6:20 a.m. near the intersection of Chesley Avenue and Filbert Street in unincorporated North Richmond.

The bus driver, a 48-year-old woman, was either not paying attention or was distracted by something when she allowed the bus to roll forward, striking the pedestrian as she was attempting to put her bike on the rack, Morgan said.

The woman was taken to the Kaiser Permanente Richmond Medical Center for treatment of minor-to-moderate injuries.

CHP officers were at the hospital Friday morning talking to the patient, Morgan said.

The accident was still under investigation, but there were no signs that the bus driver was intoxicated, Morgan said.
