California Budget Impasse Sets New Record
SACRAMENTO (CBS 5 / KCBS) ―
The California state legislature is a record 63 days late and nowhere close to announcing a budget agreement.
Political consultant Leo McElroy said those Schwarzenneger pay cuts for state workers are a real possibility now. "In past years they have always managed to cobble a compromise together," he said.
McElroy says the budget impasse -- Democrats arguing for tax hikes and Republicans for programs cuts -- could go on for weeks, or more. And the public will get angrier and angrier with little possibility they'll vote their representatives out of office.
