Brush Fire Near Bodega Bay Contained
BODEGA BAY (BCN) ―
A 5-acre fire in the dunes at Salmon Creek Beach South near Bodega Bay on the Sonoma Coast was contained just before 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, Cal Fire said.
Cal Fire spokesman Jeff Gahagan said no structures were threatened and no injuries have been reported.
Thirty firefighters from Cal Fire, Monte Rio and Bodega Bay responded to the blaze that was reported around 2 p.m.
Gahagan said there was a slight north wind at the beach and the spread of the fire had stopped.
The cause is under investigation but Gahagan noted temperatures at the beach were around 70 degrees and, because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, the beach was likely crowded.
