Bluetooth Headsets Stolen In SJ Smash-And-Grabs
SAN JOSE (BCN) ―
Thieves broke into two San Jose electronics stores early Wednesday morning and stole numerous Bluetooth products, among other items, police Officer Jermaine Thomas said.
The thefts came a day after a statewide law went into effect that prohibits drivers from holding a cell phone to their ear while on the road.
Thomas said the first break-in occurred at about 2:10 a.m. at Valley Cellular in the 1100 block of Bird Avenue.
The suspect or suspects shattered the front glass to get into the store and stole several Bluetooth items as well as other products, Thomas said.
Then, at 3:37 a.m., officers responded to reports of a break-in at a Radio Shack in the 1200 block of South Bascom Avenue where they found shattered glass. Numerous items, mostly Bluetooth products, had been taken from the store, Thomas said.
"We don't know if it was just a coincidence or the same suspect or suspects," Thomas said.
He said the new law probably had some effect on the crimes.
Descriptions of suspects or vehicles connected to the crime were not immediately available.
