Two bicyclists were shot dead in separate shootings in San Francisco and Oakland Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
The San Francisco shooting happened in the city's Richmond District at about 1:40 a.m. near the intersection of Cabrillo Street and 15th Avenue, according to police spokesman Sgt. Neville Gittens said.
The victim was on a bicycle when he was shot, according to Gittens, who said that the victim then got off his bike and started running down Cabrillo Street.
The victim apparently knocked on doors of buildings in the neighborhood, which possibly prompted the calls to police, Gittens said.
When officers arrived, they discovered the victim had died in the doorway of one of the buildings, according to Gittens.
No suspects have been arrested, but police believe two people were involved in the shooting, Gittens said.
Witnesses to the shooting are being asked to call the San Francisco Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
In Oakland, police said a shooting was reported at about 9:50 p.m. near the intersection of 38th and Allendale avenues.
Police said someone in a car fired at a bicyclist and officers found the victim on the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was taken to a Highland hospital where he was pronounced dead just after 11pm, police said.
Neither the victims nor any suspects were identified in either case.
