Berkeley Researchers Develop 'Gecko Claws'

Linda Yee, Reporting
OAKLAND (CBS 5) ― Imagine having the ability to scale walls like a gecko. Some researchers at UC Berkeley have been working on new claws that mimic the reptile's ability.

Professional climber Lyn Verinsky scaled a building in Downtown Oakland to demonstrate the "gecko claws." The paddle-like devices are similar to the gecko's tiny foot hairs and claws, which allows the reptile to scurry up and stick to sheer walls.
