Suspect Sought In Benicia Bank Robbery
BENICIA (BCN) ―
Benicia police searched for a man suspected of robbing a bank Thursday morning just before noon, according to the Police Department.
Officers responded at about 11:50 a.m. to reports of an armed robbery at the Umpqua Bank, 1395 E. Second St., police said.
The suspect had entered the bank, approached two female tellers with a handgun and demanded money, police said.
The suspect, described as a black man weighing about 240 pounds and wearing a black plaid jacket, fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.
A witness reportedly told police that the suspect left the area in a red or burgundy sedan traveling westbound on East N Street and southbound on West Second Street, police said.
