Val Diamond Leaves 'Beach Blanket Babylon'

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ― After more than 10,000 performances, a star of San Francisco's "Beach Blanket Babylon" is hanging up her enormous hat. Val Diamond is out after more than a quarter century.

For many, Val Diamond is synonymous with the show. Tammy Nelson, Diamond's understudy for the past 15 years, has stepped into her role. Calls to Diamond were not returned, but her agent told CBS 5 that she was not happy.
