Antioch Victim IDd In Shooting Near SF School

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ― A 15-year-old Antioch boy fatally shot in broad daylight Tuesday across from a San Francisco high school has been identified as Trayon Dixson, according to the San Francisco medical examiner's office.

Witnesses to the fatal shooting reported seeing a young man believed to be the shooter escape in a white car, San Francisco police reported.

The shooting took place shortly after noon in front of Phillip and Sala Burton Academic High School at Mansell and Somerset streets in southeastern San Francisco, according to police.

Police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said the victim, who was pronounced dead at San Francisco General Hospital, was not a student at the school.

Williams said information from witnesses about the suspect or suspects was "unfortunately, very vague."

Williams said a young man estimated to be about 17 or 18 years old reportedly got out of the suspect vehicle, described only as a white car, shot the victim in the street, and then left.

The motive for the shooting is unclear, and police do not know whether there was anyone else was inside the vehicle, Williams said.

The shooting prompted a temporary lockdown of the school campus while police determined suspects were no longer in the area.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the San Francisco Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
