Daycare, Homes Gutted By SF Bayview District Fire
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / KCBS / BCN) ―
A daycare center in San Francisco's Bayview District was one of three buildings heavily damaged in a two-alarm fire Friday afternoon that sent one person to the hospital.
The blaze also displaced residents of two homes that were burned.
Flames erupted about 2:15 p.m. in a residence at 1523 La Salle Street at Cashmere Street near 3rd, in the Silver Terrace neighborhood.
Firefighters arrived to find a blaze that quickly spread to Ideal Daycare and one other building because of windy conditions, according to Lt. Mindy Talmadge of the San Francisco Fire Department.
A second alarm was quickly issued, and the fire was contained about 3 p.m.
All six children inside the daycare escaped unharmed, but one worker was hurt and taken to St. Lukes Hospital with moderate, non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday night.
