The Contra Costa County coroner's office on Friday released the names of a man and woman who died in what appearred to be a murder-suicide Thursday in the unincorporated town of Bay Point.
Graciela Gonzalez Gutierrez, 34, was allegedly shot and killed by 38-year-old Javier-Francisco Valladolio, who also shot and injured a 3-year-old boy before turning the gun on himself, sheriff's officials said.
Gutierrez lived in Bay Point and Valladolio was a Pittsburg resident, Contra Costa County coroner's Deputy Amott said.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported shooting at a home in the 3400 block of Gregory Drive just after 1:45 p.m. and found Gutierrez and Valladolio dead inside and the boy shot, according to the sheriff's office.
The boy was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Oakland and was listed in critical condition after undergoing surgery Thursday afternoon.
The sheriff's office said Thursday that investigators found a possible motive, and that the shooting was part of an ongoing domestic dispute between a couple in which a restraining order was being sought.
A neighbor said his wife heard the shots and the daughter of the woman who owns the house screaming "He shot my mom" and "My brother is still inside."
