Storm Expected To Bring Snow To Bay Area Peaks

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ― Snow is expected Tuesday in the higher elevations of the Santa Cruz Mountains, East Bay hills and the Diablo Range as another cold winter storm passes through the Bay Area.

Elevations higher than 2,500 feet are expected to receive two to three inches of snow, and those greater than 3,000 feet should see about five to six inches of snow, National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Tetinger said.

Sea level parts of the Bay Area are anticipated to be in the upper 40s with rain, which is "cooler than average" but not especially unusual for February, according to Tetinger.

He said mountains in the North Bay are not expected to receive any snow.

The winter weather advisory remains in effect from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday.
