Bay Area Rapid Transit trains were delayed up to 30 minutes system-wide during the Friday evening rush hour after a train fire at the Bay Fair station in San Leandro.
BART spokesman Linton Johnson said the fire started at 4:40 p.m. on a Fremont-bound train. It was put out less than an hour later.
The train had been evacuated earlier at the Coliseum/Oakland Airport station because of brake problems, so he said no one was on board when it caught fire.
The train was on a "pocket track" and not on active tracks at the Bay Fair station when it caught fire, Johnson said.
There were no reports of injuries due to the fire.
