Mother Shot In Attempted Antioch House Robbery

ANTIOCH (BCN) ― A 25-year-old man was arrested for attempting to rob an Antioch house and shooting one of the residents early Friday morning, according to the Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery in the 2700 block of Balboa Court at about 1:30 a.m. and determined possibly two suspects broke into the residence and attacked a man and woman sleeping in the living room with their 2-year-old son, police said.

One suspect, Tremaine Oliver, shot the woman as she tried to flee the room with her son, according to police.

The man fought one of the suspects until they fled the residence.

Police subsequently tracked down and arrested Oliver in the neighborhood.

The woman sustained one gunshot wound to the left forearm and several cuts from broken glass, police said.

She was transported to a local hospital and was expected to survive her injuries, according to police.

The man and boy were not injured, police said.

Oliver was booked into jail on charges of first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment, conspiracy and felon in possession of a firearm, according to police.

It was unknown whether a second suspect was involved in the robbery, but investigators are looking for at least one other person in connection to the incident, police said.
