A Chico man who met a 15-year-old Antioch girl two years ago while playing an online video game was charged Monday with 11 felonies for allegedly molesting the teen and threatening to kill her family, Antioch police reported Tuesday.
Robert Lee Snyder, 36, allegedly met the victim online in 2006. The initial contact reportedly led to phone calls, emails and text messages and eventually to a meeting.
Investigators believe Snyder drove from Chico to Antioch on several occasions, allegedly to molest the victim, police said.
Snyder also allegedly told the victim he would kill her family if they told police about the alleged relationship, Lt. Leonard Orman said.
Antioch police, with assistance from Chico police, served search warrants at Snyder's home and at a second location in Chico on Thursday and arrested Snyder.
Police said that after his arrest, he admitted to having had a relationship with the victim.
Snyder was transported Monday from Butte County jail to the Martinez Detention Facility, where he is being held on $675,000 bail, police said.
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Contra Costa County court in Martinez at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the district attorney's office.
So far, police only know of one victim. However, investigators seized Snyder's computer and will be looking into whether he had used the Internet to contact any other children, Sgt. Diana Aguinaga said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Antioch police at (925) 779-6928.
