1 Killed On South Bay Tracks; Amtrak Slowed
Some Amtrak and Altamont Commuter Express trains were behind schedule after a person was struck by an Amtrak train in Santa Clara Wednesday morning, an Amtrak spokeswoman said.
The person was struck by northbound Amtrak train No. 528 about 9:25 a.m. at Yerba Buena Way near the Great America Station, Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham said.
Graham did not have word on the person's condition.
The Amtrak train involved in the crash and one southbound train were slightly delayed, Graham said.
Bus bridges were put in place for the affected passengers.
ACE train No. 7 was terminating at the Fremont station and passengers were able to take a bus bridge from there to the Great America and San Jose stations.
Afternoon passengers looking to board Ace train No. 2 can take a bus from the San Jose and Great America stations to the Fremont station, where they can board the train.
No delays are expected to evening ACE trains No. 4, 6 and 8.
