Two children allegedly abducted by their father have been recovered along with their pickup truck. The suspect is still at large but an Northern California Amber Alert has been canceled.
The children and their vehicle were found at a home in unincorporated Alameda County near Hayward Friday about 1:30 p.m., according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office received a report shortly after noon that the 2000 gray Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was found parked in front of a house on Ash Street at Foothill Boulevard, sheriff's spokesman J.D. Nelson said.
Authorities responded and surrounded the house to ensure no one could escape. Police found the children - 8-year-old Eduardo Orellana and his 3-year-old sister Julisa Orellana - apparently unharmed.
The home is believed to belong to relatives of their 36-year-old father, Jose Barraza Orellana, who is still at large.
An Amber Alert was issued at about 4 a.m. Friday after Orellana reportedly stabbed his children's mother several times in Lemoore, Kings County late Thursday and then fled with the kids, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Trent Cross said.
The mother was transported to a hospital in Lemoore and was in critical condition Friday, Cross said.
Orellana is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
