Homeowners in Alamo are trying to avoid fires by upgrading their homes, but they are getting plenty of heat from neighbors.

Some residents in the neighborhood nestled next to Mount Diablo have proposed re-roofing homes with a laminate material, but others say the roofs may take away from the visual appeal of the homes.
