Teen Raises Thousands For Alameda County Food Bank

OAKLAND (CBS 5) ― A 14-year-old from Alameda County was being honored Tuesday for his extraordinary service to the county food bank.

Varun Santhanam, a College Prep freshman, reluctantly attended a fundraiser for the food bank a year ago. Since then, he has raised $8,000 for the organization – enough to buy 24,000 meals.

In her video report. Ann Notarangelo found out that the Santhanam's work would not have happened without a little push from his mom.
