Fog Prompts Bay Area Flight Delays
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ―
Flights at Bay Area airports were mostly back on schedule Wednesday as foggy conditions that hampered visibility earlier Wednesday morning were clearing up.
Mineta San Jose International Airport spokesman David Vossbrink said 16 flights had been canceled and others delayed Wednesday morning due to fog.
All arriving and departing flights at Mineta were expected to be back on schedule between 11 a.m. and noon, Vossbrink said.
Visibility also returned to Oakland International Airport, where departing flights were back on schedule after delays Wednesday morning that began around 8:15 and ended at 10:40 a.m., spokeswoman Cyndy Johnson said.
Oakland's longest delay was about 35 minutes, Johnson said.
Foggy conditions were still causing delays of up to an hour at San Francisco International Airport, duty manager Linda Perry said.
Airport officials expect the fog to lift by 2 p.m., but passengers might experience residual delays after that, Perry said.

Passengers are also advised to check with their individual carriers for a flight's status.
