Eric Wright Of Tracy, missing since his boat capsized in reservoir near Livermore.
Alameda County search and rescue teams spent most of Monday
looking for a missing fisherman, but officials have suspended the
search.
The search was at Bethany Reservoir between Tracy and Livermore near the city of Mountainhouse, where the boat of a 32-year-old man was found capsized, Alameda County Sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.
Tracy resident Eric Wright was fishing in the reservoir, located northeast of Livermore in unincorporated Alameda County, on Sunday with his father-in-law, Nelson said.
Wright's father-in-law went to shore to retrieve the truck or trailer used to transport the boat, and came back to find the boat overturned and Wright nowhere in sight, Nelson said.
Sheriff officials began the search of the reservoir, which has a 180-acre surface area, at about 4 p.m. using divers, search dogs, and helicopters, Nelson said.
Officials have not located any witnesses, Nelson said.
Searchers have not determined if Wright, believed to be a good swimmer, is in the 32-foot deep water or along the shore in the state recreation area around the reservoir, Nelson said.
Water temperature in the reservoir was 49 degrees, according to Nelson.
The risk of Wright suffering hypothermia due to cold water, air temperatures and high winds was a concern, Nelson said.
