Newsom Approves Almost $2B For SF Water System

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / KCBS) ― A plan to upgrade the water system that supplies more than two million people in the San Francisco Bay Area with drinking water is moving forward.

Mayor Gavin Newsom signed a bill Friday that appropriates $1.9 billion for the $4.4 billion Water System Improvement Program.

The system draws water from Yosemite National Park's Hetch Hetchy Reservoir.
