FAIRFIELD (BCN) ― Fairfield Police Find AK-47 In Suspect's Bedroom

FAIRFIELD (BCN)

Federal agents and Fairfield police arrested a man for immigration violations on Friday and uncovered an AK-47 assault rifle while searching his home, according to police.

Detectives from a police gang unit and a special agent from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided a home in the 1900 block of Oliveglen Court to apprehend a man for immigration violations, according to Fairfield police.

The suspect, 18-year-old Mario Novoa, is a known member of the Sureno gang, according to police.

Following his arrest, detectives conducted a search of Novoa's home and allegedly found a Russian-made AK-47 or Kalashnikov assault rifle in the suspect's bedroom.

Detectives plan to investigate whether the illegal weapon has been used in any crimes.

Novoa was subsequently booked at Solano County Jail for possession of an assault rifle and violation of federal immigration law.
