Kidnapping suspect Nancy Garrido's brothers said Monday that their sister was starting to cooperate with authorities investigating the abduction of Jaycee Dugard, the South Lake Tahoe woman who resurfaced 18 years after she was snatched off the street as a child.
Garrido and her husband, Phillip, have been charged with kidnapping Dugard in 1991 and keeping her hidden in the backyard of their home near Antioch.
Nancy Garrido's brothers, David and Rey Bocanegra, also said in a television interview that aired on "Inside Edition" that they thought their sister was brainwashed by her husband.
The brothers said they hadn't spoken to Nancy Garrido since her arrest last month but were in touch her defense lawyer.
The lawyer, Gilbert Maines, did not immediately respond to requests seeking comment on their statements.
